Condensation is a normal physical reaction, not a leak or defect. There are two types — condensation on the underside of the lid, and condensation appearing as clear liquid near the base/exterior of the unit.
1. Inner-Lid Condensation
The unit maintains a warm internal environment through its built-in heater. When moisture from food input meets this warm air inside the chamber, water vapor forms and can condense as droplets on the underside of the lid — this is a natural process, not a leak.
- If droplets appear, simply wipe them off with a tissue or cloth.
- Alternatively, you can pause food input for a while — as the microbes dry out slightly, the condensation on the lid will naturally reduce as well.
- This effect can be more noticeable in colder weather (e.g., winter), since the lid surface is colder while the internal circulating air remains warm and moist — increasing the temperature difference that causes condensation.
2. Exterior/Base Condensation
Clear (transparent) liquid appearing near the base or exterior of the unit is also a form of condensation — warm, moist exhaust air meets colder outside air (most common in fall–spring), forming droplets near the rear vent.
- Try relocating the unit somewhere at 18°C (64°F) or warmer, or placing a tray underneath.
