3️⃣ Setup Steps — Prime

1. Choose your location — Place the unit on a flat, stable surface in a well-ventilated area.

2. Unpack the accessories — Remove the Compost Starter 1.0, Handy Shovel, User Manual, and Guide Sheet. Confirm the Mesh Filter is installed; the Carbon Filter comes pre-attached to the rear.

3. Remove the yellow sticker from the Carbon Filter — Leaving it on blocks airflow and prevents the filter from functioning.

4. Connect the power cord to a wall outlet.

5. Add the full Compost Starter 1.0 pack — Pour the entire contents evenly into the chamber. Do not use a partial pack.

6. Add water — Pour approx. 1.8L (4 lbs) evenly over the microbes.

7. Close the lid and power on — The heating element activates immediately, but the chamber takes 2–3 hours to warm up. Wait 3–6 hours after powering on before adding food.

Important Notes

  • Prefer an open, well-ventilated space. If installing in a cabinet, ensure adequate airflow and place a tray/mat underneath to protect against moisture.
  • Use the entire microbe pack at once — partial use causes an insufficient colony, leading to odors or decomposition issues.
  • No tools or technicians needed; setup is user-installable.
  • Keep the unit powered on at all times during normal use. Powering off drops internal temperature and sends microbes into a dormant (spore) state, halting decomposition. See: 👉 Daily Use & Maintenance — Vacation Mode: Preparing for Absence

What to Do Next

Once the 3–6 hour activation period has passed, proceed to microbe care and your first food input
