⚫ Why Should I Cure Reencle Compost Before Using It?Updated 2 hours ago

To achieve the best compost quality, we recommend curing harvested Reencle compost for approximately 3 weeks before using it with plants.

Reencle is a continuous composting system, which means new food scraps are regularly added while microorganisms continuously break down the organic material inside the unit.

Because food scraps are added at different times, some recently added material may still be actively decomposing when you harvest the compost.

Curing gives this remaining organic material additional time to decompose while allowing the compost to stabilize and mature before use.

How to Cure Reencle Compost

After harvesting:

  1. Sift the compost to remove any larger, recognizable food pieces.
  2. Return those undecomposed pieces to Reencle so they can continue breaking down.
  3. Place the harvested compost in a breathable container.
  4. Keep it in a dry, well-ventilated location.
  5. Allow it to cure for approximately 3 weeks before use.

Because composting is a biological process, check the condition of the compost as well as the curing time. Mature compost should have a relatively loose, crumbly texture and a mild, earthy smell.
