Can Reencle Decompose Meat or Bones(Beef/Pork/Chicken/Fish)?๐Ÿ–Updated 9 days ago

Isn't meat supposed to be a "no" for composting? Not with Reencle.

In traditional composting, meat is usually avoided โ€” it tends to cause odor, attract pests, and decompose improperly in an open pile or bin.

Reencle works differentlyโœจ. Because it creates real compost through a controlled aerobic microbial process, the unit maintains a balanced internal environment where beneficial microorganisms (Bacillus Smithii) actively break down food waste โ€” including meat โ€” without the issues typical of traditional composting.

โœ…What can be added:

  • Raw, cooked, or fried edible meat/fish (seafood) โ€” including beef, pork, chicken, lamb, and most fish
  • Frozen meat/fish: okay to add, but please thaw to room temperature first (see:ย [Can I Add Frozen Food?])
  • Cooked chicken (without bones) can decompose within 24 hours

โžกGuidelines for best results:

  • Add in small, moderate amounts and cut into smaller pieces for easier decomposition
  • Maintain a balanced mix with other food waste rather than adding large amounts of meat alone
  • Avoid large bones or excessive fatty/oily portions

๐ŸšซWhat cannot be added:

  • Hard or large bones, fish scales, and guts โ€” these are treated as general waste and are difficult to decompose. Please separate these before adding fish to Reencle.
  • A trace amount of small, soft fish bones is okay.
