Yes. You can continue using your Reencle during winter.
Reencle uses a living microbial system to break down food waste, and the unit maintains a warm environment inside the chamber to support microbial activity. This allows the decomposition process to continue even when the weather outside is cold.
Curing harvested compost is a little different. Once the material is removed from Reencle, it is no longer in the unit's controlled environment, so colder temperatures may slow the biological activity involved in curing.
How to Cure Compost in Winter
After harvesting your compost:
Sift out any visible, undecomposed food pieces and return them to Reencle.
Place the harvested compost in a breathable container.
Keep the container in a dry, well-ventilated location.
Allow the compost to cure for approximately 3–4 weeks.
In colder conditions, curing may take longer. Instead of relying only on the number of days, check the compost before using it.
Cured compost should have a loose, crumbly texture and a mild, earthy smell. If it is still very wet, warm, or has a strong sour or fermented smell, allow additional curing time.
Because Reencle creates real compost through a living microbial process rather than simply drying food waste, temperature, moisture, and airflow can affect the curing process.
